2009 Homecoming Activities |
BG vs. Ohio University Saturday, October 03 2009 While the Falcons may have lost to Ohio University, the Sig Eps had a great homecoming turnout. It started out with 25 alumni and 6 undergrads attending the annual Alumni Board Meeting at the fraternity house where we were treated to a serenade of old Sig Ep songs by Brother Chuck Eberly '63 after being prompted by Dave Chambliss '06 and Zac Ankrom's '10 (current chapter president) report on this summer's Conclave. Additionally Chuck shared many heart-warming stories about Carlton Schooley '63, who has served as chapter counselor since 1986. From there, the homecoming festivities moved to the Bishop Room at the Falcon Plaza (Best Western) on Wooster St. where more alumni were able to return for a visit. The Bishop Room at the Best Western Plaza was packed and two runs to replenish refreshments were needed. The Bishop Room is already reserved for 2010 in order to keep this annual gathering after the morning’s business meeting of the Alumni Board intact. |

2009 Homecoming Pink Shirt Fundraiser |
|

Last September, alumni and former undergrad President Dave Chambliss '06 hatched the idea to have a fundraiser coordinated with Homecoming, which was held in October. In less than one month, Dave and current undergrad President Zac Ankrom '10 sold over 220 shirts and raised $1,400 which was given to the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation. “With October designated as Breast Cancer Awareness Month, it seemed like a perfect match,” according to Chambliss. “I know we could count on Zac and the other undergrads at Sig Ep because they have become a major force on the BGSU campus. We kicked around a few ideas and Todd Taylor '03 came up with the perfect design for the shirts. It was a big success, in every way.” Many of the pink shirts were worn by sorority members in the Homecoming parade. |
